Job Description
Purpose of the Job

Responsible for producing the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of private funds, ensuring that reporting deadlines are met and the delivery of client accounting requirements are in compliance with Ocorian’s contractual obligations.

Main Responsibilities

Record journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and reconcile bank accounts for assigned funds in a timely and accurate manner
Prepare capital call and distribution notices to partners
Prepare financial statements and footnotes in accordance with US GAAP
Allocate income and expenses to partners’ capital accounts in accordance with the funds’ operating agreements
Prepare investor reporting, including capital account statements and calculations of investor and fund performance metrics
Develop an understanding of all entities within the fund structure, the nature of their transactions and reporting requirements
Develop and maintain a process to ensure the timely delivery of client deliverables for all assigned entities
Ensure that current accounting standards (US GAAP) and industry best practices are applied to the accounts production process and kept current as such standards and principles develop
Liaise with clients and other professional advisers to determine financial reporting deadlines
Attend client meetings and respond to client and investor requests for information
Liaise with auditors to ensure the timely completion of audits for fund and fund related entities
Participate in office-wide projects to improve efficiency and enhance internal controls
Ensure that regulatory and statutory reporting requirements are met
Ensure Ocorian’s policies and procedures are used and adhered to within the accounts team and contribute to the continuing development of those policies and procedures
Any other such duties that might be reasonably required for this role
Qualifications Required
Bachelors degree in accounting; CPA and/or Masters degree a plus, but not required
2+ years of experience in fund accounting or similar staff accounting role (Senior Fund Accountant only)
Solid and pragmatic accounting skills and technical accounting knowledge
Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong critical thinking skills
Meticulous attention to detail
Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize urgent tasks
Advanced Excel skills and strong IT skills
Professionalism and ability to win the respect of clients
Ability to work independently and proactively, as well as in a team environment
Ability to interact with colleagues at all levels
The drive to make continuous improvements
Flexibility to adapt as the role develops
