Summary:
This position will be performing a variety general accounting tasks, including monthly journal preparation, accruals, reconciliations and analysis. The prospective candidate will also work with other departments on various journal requests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the preparation and posting of monthly close journal entries related to employee benefits
Ensure the accurate recording of cash surrender values on life insurance policies, as well as the recording of the supplemental executive retirement plans.
Recording of derivatives received from the Risk Department
Responsible for the recording of the G&A accruals received from the Open Text File for accruals
Support the FP&A department with posting of monthly entries and reclasses
Vacation accrual analysis on a quarterly basis, and record any adjustment needed
Monthly bank reconciliations – work with treasury, accounts receivable and accounts on discrepancies.
Prepare monthly account reconciliations for benefits liability accounts
Prepare quarterly account reconciliations, identifying and explaining significant outstanding items
Special projects as requested
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
S/4 knowledge a plus
Knowledge of BlackLine
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
Requires 5 years of work experience in accounting
Sound understanding of accounting practices and principles
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in use of Excel and Word
Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods
Highly motivated and team-oriented individual
Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
