Staff Accountant – Green Brick Partners

Overview
Position Purpose: The Staff Accountant must believe in, practice, and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature and Efficient in how he or she approaches their role at Green Brick Partners.

The Green Brick Financial Services Accounting team provides accounting services for Green Brick’s Title, Mortgage, Treasury and Corporate accounting teams. The Staff Accountant will deliver high-quality and timely accounting to assist our team across multiple functions.

Responsibilities
Prepare relevant journal entries timely and accurately to meet accounting close schedules.
Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with accurate support for key account areas of the financial statements (e.g., cash, work-in-process or development-in-process inventory, deposits).
Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports
Coordinate with vendors to obtain documentation required for vendor setup to ensure data integrity and prevent cyber fraud.
Respond to ad hoc information requests from GRBK Mortgage/Title management teams.
Assist with internal and external audits.
Assist in automation efforts and take the lead in automation of projects directly related to job responsibilities.
Prepare daily cash positioning, reporting and other Treasury activities
Maintain and organize key banking records
Manage and prioritize work effectively to meet multiple processing and reporting deadlines related to vendor payments, accounting close, external financial reporting, and internal management reporting.
Supervision of Others: N/A

Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability: Independent judgement is required to prioritize work effectively to meet multiple overlapping deadlines. Analyze complex financial reports, transactions, and processes and demonstrate the ability to detect and resolve issues, determine the cause of variances, and identify and implement corrections to balances and in processes to facilitate complete and accurate financial statements.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Qualifications
Education:

BS degree in Accounting/Finance
Experience:

1+ year experience in accounting
Competencies:

Excellent time management and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel
Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective communication with management
Experience with Kyriba, Qualia or Loan Vision is a plus
